The Presidential Leadership Scholars program presents a unique opportunity to only 60 selected applicants a year. Out of 900 applicants, Regional Liason Officer Traci Scott with the 1st Infantry Division was chosen for this program.

Applicants for the Presidential Leadership Scholars program are expected to have about 10 years prior professional leadership experience, and are selected largely due to their visionary commitment to furthering their leadership horizons. Over this 6-month experience, Scott has so far met presidents and administrators as she travels to and from the presidential libraries of Lyndon B. Johnson, Bill J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. Scott says she values one part of this experience in particular.

“We get a chance to meet administration people. I think those are the fascinating discussions. Of course the Presidents are fascinating, but the administration people, […] they share words of wisdom, lessons, that’s where we get some very interesting perspectives.”

The Presidential Leadership Scholars program began when Presidents Clinton and Bush created a program recognizing and developing the leadership qualities of civic-minded individuals like Scott. For more information about this program, visit presidentialleadershipscholars.org.
